When configuring custom pagination, an option is available to display the secondary table of contents.

To activate the secondary table of contents, go through these steps:

  1. Select Add rule in the Pagination section.
  2. Select Configure rule.
  3. In the Pagination depth section of the Configure pagination drawer, select Custom pagination or Content-driven pagination.
  4. Select Split table of contents.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Select Save in the Reader page configuration menu.

When selected, the document's table of contents is split into two sections as follows:

  • The document's chapters appear in the sidebar.
  • The chapter's topics appear in the content pane. A selection of buttons let users navigate from one chapter to another and expand or collapse the chapter.

As illustrated in the second image, the topics belonging to the chapter Fluid Topics Reader Page no longer appear in the sidebar and are instead available in their own dedicated section of the content pane. Users still have an at-a-glance view of the document's chapters in the sidebar while they navigate within the chapter or from one chapter to another using split view.
