When an image appears in a structured document, Fluid Topics reduces the size of the image by encoding it to Base64.
Exceptionally, SVG images with Japanese characters are not encoded to avoid display issues.
The encoding process creates new and smaller files. Depending on the original image format, these files can change format.
- The following files are in the same format after encoding:
- JPG
- GIF
- PNG
- The following files have a different format after encoding:
- SVG ➔ PNG (except for SVG images with Japanese characters)
- TIF or TIFF ➔ PNG
- Only in Microsoft Word content: BMP ➔ PNG
End-users can download encoded images in their original format.
