It is useful to synchronize a collection in the following cases:

  • A user has edited a collection after making it available offline (for example, to change its title or to add or remove documents).
  • A content administrator has updated a document contained in a previously synchronized collection.

In the Collections tab of the My Library interface, a Sync button is available as follows:

A software interface displaying a document synchronization panel. The panel is titled "Installation survival kit," showing 11 documents. The last sync was on 4/2/21, with a message indicating "Sync needed." There is a prominent blue "Sync" button highlighted, and a checkbox labeled "Keep up to date." An option to make the documents "Available offline" is toggled on.

It is possible to automatically keep a collection up to date by selecting the Keep up to date check box as follows:

A section of a file management interface displaying options for an "Installation survival kit" with 11 documents. There's a sync button and checkbox labeled "Keep up to date," and a toggle switch for "Available offline" set to on. The last sync date is 4/2/21, with a note indicating sync is needed.

  • When automatic synchronization for a collection is enabled, the Sync button disappears for that collection. If the check box is cleared, the Sync button reappears.
  • The modification of a document's attachments does not trigger automatic synchronization.
  • Personal books added to a Collection are available when online but not when offline.

Some browsers (such as Safari on iOS) differentiate between viewing the Fluid Topics Progressive Web Application installed on a device and viewing the same portal in a web browser. As a result, data saved on one is not automatically saved on the other. It is important to always either enable automatic synchronization or manually re-synchronize collections when switching between the two.
