A Fluid Topics control file is an independent XML file that contains the following elements:
- Content processing instructions.
- Metadata at the document or topic level.
- The path to the document in the archive.
A Fluid Topics control file can be with files in an archive, or be uploaded on its own. The terminology used for each of these contexts is as follows:
- Synchronous: Term describing a control file that is uploaded along with content in an archive. This is common when adding new content.
- Asynchronous: Term describing a control file that is uploaded independently. This is common when modifying existing content.
