Content administrators can create a control file by performing the actions described in the following steps:
-
Copy either the XML or spreadsheet template.
At the moment, the XML control file offers more features. However, it can be more challenging for users not familiar with XML. See Spreadsheet control file limitations for more information.
-
Paste the content into a text editor, or a spreadsheet editor.
-
Define all variables, or replace the existing examples.
Variables begin with a dollar sign.
${Language code for the resource}is an example of a variable. -
Name the file
FluidTopicsControlFile.xmlorFluidTopicsControlFile.xlsx, and save it. - Place the control file at the root level of an archive.
-
Upload the archive through the appropriate source.
When uploading a control file asynchronously, use the same source as the content it is targeting.
The values set in the control file take precedence over values set or extracted elsewhere.
It can be helpful to validate XML control files against the XML schema definition (XSD) file.
If both the FluidTopicsControlFile.xml and FluidTopicsControlFile.xlsx files exist in the same archive, FluidTopicsControlFile.xml takes priority.
