To create a search business rule, add the rule's name and select Create & Add.
When configuring a search business rule, it is possible to configure one or both of the following:
-
Metadata value influence: to promote or demote documents based on a metadata key.
-
Metadata value order influence: to promote documents based on the ascending or descending value of a specific metadata key.
For more information about search business rules, see Custom sort order.
Examples
-
Adding the
ft:isBook
metadata and settingtrue
as a value in the Metadata value influence section promotes books over articles. -
Adding the
Version
metadata and selecting Descending in the Metadata value order influence section promotes the latest version of a document.
- The order of the metadata keys has no influence on the search results.
- When promoting multiple metadata keys, the one with the least instances in the corpus takes precedence.
- Adding too many metadata to a search business rule can be detrimental to the search results. It is strongly recommended to add a maximum of four metadata keys per section. For optimal results, use up to two metadata keys per section.
- Custom sort order only apply to empty queries.
