Selecting New asset displays the local file explorer with a list of available files. It is also possible to drag and drop an image or font file anywhere on the screen.

The Asset library can store any image file saved in JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, SVG, or WEBP format. It can also store any font saved in EOT, OTF, TTF, WOFF, or WOFF2 format.

After selecting or dropping an image or font file, a window opens with fields to define the following information for the asset:

  • A name.

This only appears in administration interfaces and is not visible to the end-user.

  • A unique identifier that appears in the browser's address bar when users access the asset.

Once set, this cannot be changed. The identifier can only have alphanumeric characters, periods, and hyphens.

  • Only for images: Alternative text with information for screen readers and bots.

Accurate and comprehensive alternative text makes digital assets more accessible to people with disabilities, and replaces an image or a graph when it cannot be displayed.

  • Only for portals with mandatory authentication: Select whether to make the asset available to everyone, or only to authenticated users.

    • By default, assets are available to authenticated users only.
    • If an asset is available to everyone, an open padlock icon appears in the grid of icons of the Asset library menu.

When downloading assets from a portal without authentication, and importing them to a portal with required authentication, assets are available to authenticated users only.
