In some cases, Fluid Topics automatically generates metadata based on the properties an author defines for the content in an authoring tool. This is often the case for built-in metadata.
In other cases, administrators define metadata explicitly. The following non-exhaustive list provides examples of common ways to explicitly define metadata elements:
- In YAML format when authoring in Markdown.
- In a control file when authoring in various content formats. For a list of examples, see Fluid Topics Control File.
- In the endpoint when using a web service to update or replace metadata at the document level.
For other examples of web services where metadata plays an important role, see Get publications by metadata and Delete documents by metadata.
