Metadata value selector - Fluid Topics - Latest

The metadata value selector lets users choose from among documents that share metadata keys of which at least one can be used to distinguish them.

Fluid Topics displays this metadata key in a selector. The selector takes the form of a menu inviting users to choose a metadata value. The name of the menu is the ID of the metadata key or its label if an administrator has configured one. It is possible to order all a metadata key's values according to customizable parameters.

Example where the values of a single metadata key all differ and can thus be used to distinguish a document

The following example shows two variants of the Time Machine User Guide. The only metadata key for which multiple values are available is Version.

When the document is uploaded to Fluid Topics, the variants are clustered by version. Users can open a menu in the list of results on the Search page to select version 1.0 or version 2.0.

Example where the values of a single metadata key differ but the values of a second metadata key also differ

The following example shows four variants of the Time Machine User Guide. Both the Version and Audience metadata keys are multivalued.

When the document is uploaded to Fluid Topics, the variants are still clustered by version. This is the only metadata key for which all values are different. However, when users select a version, the tag that shows the value for the Audience metadata key is updated accordingly. For example, when a user selects version 1.0, the Novice tag appears. When a user selects version 3.0, the Expert tag appears.
