A Copy option in the Manage users administration interface lets users with the ADMIN or USERS_ADMIN role copy the following data from one user profile to another:

Selecting two users and then selecting the Copy action displays the following section:

Copy user data

By default, Fluid Topics offers to copy the profile data from the user selected first to the user selected afterward. Selecting the Swap users reverses the direction.

Selecting the Copy button displays a window with check boxes to define which data to copy. Selecting the Merge button displays a window with check boxes to define which data to move. By default, all check boxes are selected whether copying or merging data.

Copying data from one user account to another has no effect on the account from which the data was copied.

- Merging user accounts deletes the account from which the data was moved.

- If a checkbox is unselected when merging user accounts, Fluid Topics permanently deletes the corresponding data when the merge takes effect.

- The application does not copy roles or groups originating from the former realm's post-authentication script to the new realm.

Use cases

The ability to manually copy or merge user data in the Manage users administration interface brings the following possibilities:

  • When migrating a user to an SSO realm, eliminates the need to wait for that user to activate their new account by connecting via the new SSO mechanism.
  • Manually migrates an individual user account that was not successfully migrated by the automatic migration mechanism.
  • Retrieves the assets of an employee who is leaving the company and reassigns those assets to the account of employee who is remaining with the company.
