Rating is only available to users who have the RATING_USER role.

It is possible to assign the RATING_USER role as a default role to both authenticated and unauthenticated users.

Selecting Rating in the Notifications section of the Administration menu displays the Rating administration interface, where ADMIN and PORTAL_ADMIN users can configure rating types and availability by adding rules.

Configure one type of rating for all content (documents and/or topics)

The process to configure the same type of rating for all content is as follows:

  1. In the Rating for documents section, select Add rule.
  2. Select Configure rule.
  3. Open the Document rating type menu and/or the Topic rating type menu(s) and select a rating type for one or both.
  4. If selecting a rating type for topics, configure the rating zone for one or more levels.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Users can now access the Rate this document option in the Title pane for all documents and/or the Rate this content option for topics.

To make the Rate this document option available in the Title bar, see Quick Actions.

Configure different types of rating for documents based on their metadata

The process to configure different types of rating for different types of documents is as follows:

  1. In the Rating for documents section, select Add rule.
  2. Select Configure rule.
  3. Open the Documents menu and/or the Topics menu and select a rating type for one or both.
  4. If selecting a rating type for topics, configure the rating zone for one or more levels.
  5. Select Add metadata requirement to open the Add metadata requirement drawer.
  6. In the Require this metadata menu, select the metadata key that is shared by all documents that should have this rating type.
  7. In the With this value menu, select the value of the metadata key that is shared by all documents that should have this rating type.
  8. Select Save in the Add metadata requirement drawer.
  9. Select Add rule and repeat steps 2 to 8, this time selecting a different rating type and targeting a different set of documents that share the same metadata key.
  10. Select Save in the Rating administration interface.
