The introduction of the Title bar, Cover page, Document shortcut menu, Topic shortcut menu, and Switch to relatives feature significantly changes the appearance of the Reader page and revamps the user experience for Fluid Topics version 3.8. These changes are currently only available to users with the BETA_USER role and require configuration by an administrator. If these conditions are not met, the Reader page will keep its legacy appearance. Information about configuring the legacy Reader page is available in previous versions (3.6, 3.7) of this document.

Depending on a portal's configuration and a user's roles and rights, the following actions may be available in the shortcut menu next to the title of each topic:

  • Bookmark
  • Add to Personal Book
  • Share URL
  • Print topics
  • Send feedback
  • Topic metadata (visible to administrators only)

In the Topic quick actions section of the Reader page administration interface, users with the ADMIN or PORTAL_ADMIN role can make one or more of these actions available as a quick action button, to be displayed directly to the left of the Topic shortcut menu. When an action is available as a quick action button, users no longer need to open the shortcut menu to perform the action.

Fluid Topics does not support the Topic quick actions feature on mobile devices. It remains necessary to open the Topic shortcut menu to perform available actions when using a mobile device.

If all actions are selected to be displayed as quick action buttons, the Topic shortcut menu will no longer be displayed. If only some actions are selected, the Topic shortcut menu will still be displayed. Furthermore, the Topic shortcut menu will contain all actions, including those which also appear as quick action buttons.
