SAML 2.0 is an XML-based SSO protocol which, in contrast to OpenID Connect, is independent of the OAuth 2.0 protocol. In a SAML realm, there is no direct communication between Fluid Topics and the SSO server. Instead, communication occurs over the user's browser. As communication is indirect, strong verification is required in order to ensure a secure and trustworthy exchange of data.

Users with the ADMIN role can add and configure a SAML realm as follows:

  1. Access the Realms tab of the Authentication administration interface.
  2. Select SAML 2.0 from the Available types menu to open the New realm drawer.
  3. Understand the concepts of Service Provider (SP) and Identity Provider (IdP).
  4. Declare Fluid Topics as the Service provider.
  5. Configure the following parameters:
  6. Optionally, configure profile mappers and search preferences.
