There are two ways to add an image or other media file to a personal topic:

  • From the web.
  • From the user's disk.

Add an image from the web

It is possible to add an image from the web as follows:

  1. Open the image file in a web browser.
  2. Copy its address.
  3. In the Write a personal topic drawer, select Insert/Edit image as follows:

Button to open the Insert/edit media window

  4. The Insert/Edit image window opens. In the Source field, paste the image's URL.
  5. Select OK.

On portals that require authentication, it is not possible to insert images from the Asset library using their URL.

When the editor successfully recognizes the image's URL, it automatically proposes dimensions that can be modified if desired.

Add a video from the web

It is possible to add a video from the web to a personal topic as follows:

  1. Open the video file in a web browser.
  2. Copy its address.
  3. In the Write a personal topic drawer, select Insert/Edit media as follows:

Button to insert a media file to a Personal topic

  4. The Insert/Edit media window opens. By default, the General tab is selected. In the Source field, paste the image's URL.
  5. Select OK.

On portals that require authentication, it is not possible to insert images from the Asset library using their URL.

When the editor successfully recognizes the video's URL, it automatically proposes dimensions that can be modified if desired.

Alternatively, it is possible to select "copy embed code" from the context menu and paste the code in the Embed tab of the Insert/edit media window.
